☺☺☺

I haven't posted in a little while.

I would sit here and flip my fingers through the proverbial filing cabinet in my mind. All the file folders near the front (or stacked right on top) of my mental files were whines and complaints. Skimming over the pages of my complaint, I would then lack any energy to look further back in the files for happy things to share. So, I've stayed quiet. Wallowed in my own unease and read other blogs but not commenting. I figured I'd likely only sound whiny and miserable.

So, here's my one sentence of complaint:

My air conditioner is broken.

Ok..now that I got that out of my system. Let me try for some happier thoughts.

☺I have happy children. They have been good sports through they heat and haven't been complaining and whining.

☺I had a very nice mother's day. My mom came over for dinner and my almost 3 yr-old chatted with her through the entire visit. He adores her so much.

☺The Suns won game four of their series against the Spurs to tie it up 2-2. They got home court back.. Yay!

☺I love my husband. In all the chaos and misery I feel encased in lately, he has been kind and sympathetic. He is so supportive and I appreciate him.

☺The Cub Scout fund raiser we had tonight went extremely well. So many people came to support the boys. I hope they understand how loved they are.

☺Our good friend is trying to rush through our refinancing to help us get a new AC as fast as possible.

☺We own a house. Despite any and all financial difficulties we struggle with, I am so grateful for our home and the security it provides.

Bullets of Complaint

I think it is a good time for a bulleted list. Many things running through my thoughts today.

♥ It is Wednesday. Wednesday means Cub Scouts. I've had a lot of Cub Scouts lately. We are currently planning a Day Camp for the boys (four different packs are taking part). Normally we would head out to the Council Day Camp, but it is far from us and being held completely outside, in the middle of the afternoon. Um..it is really really hot here in the middle of the afternoon. So, we have a nice indoor location with a few outdoor activities planned (mostly in the morning). It is a lot of work tho.
♥ It is Wednesday. Wednesday means Cub Scouts. I asked my fellow den leader to plan the activities for today and I would help in whatever she wanted. She hasn't asked for help and since I have planned most everything for the past two months..I'm a tad bit worried. I shouldn't be. She is great with the kids and is certainly does as well as I do about following through with things. So, I must just be a control freak..that's all.
♥ I am tired. I've been tired for the past several weeks. I've climbed out of that depression pit and am left with a bit of anxiety issues, but nothing too extreme. So, why am I still so tired? Last year about this time I got really tired too. Maybe my body just hates making the transition to hot weather. Maybe I overslept last night. I went to bed at 9pm and got up at 7:30am. I haven't slept through like that in a long time.
♥ I need to go buy diapers. But see above. I'm tired and don't feel like dragging the toddlers through Wal-Mart. You know the diapers are on the wall in the back corner of the store and that the store is like a mile wide. I need to go search in the diaper bag. I hope we have enough until tonight.
♥ Tonight the Suns are playing game 5 in the first round of the playoffs. It is showing on cable. I don't have cable, because who really needs that much TV? Except..right now? I do! I need that much TV, just for three hours tonight. I think I'll head over to my mom's house. I'll buy diapers on the way home.
♥ I have phone calls I need to make. This is really really tough for me right now. (See above mentioned anxiety issues..) I think everyone I know should get email accounts...and have a means of answering said email immediately. After all, it's all about making things easier for me right? Heh.. Ok..having just typed all that and seeing how pathetic it looks..I'll try again to make the phone calls.
♥ I keep having these dreams about my last place of employment. Weird dreams where suddenly I'm expected to know everything, even tho I've been away for two years. I think the dreams are tied to financial stresses I'm having right now. If I were to go look for a job right now, I would most likely start there. My husband is going back to school. He is going to try to do it while still working full time. I have fears that it won't work so well and I will need to return to work. So, then the worries begin about my kids and the wide range of stuff that would come with a return to work. But nothing is to be decided for now, so I push it out of my mind..and into my dreams I guess.

Okay, enough complaining for now. My husband always thinks that making a list helps a person organize thoughts into action. I can hope.

Cookie Magic

Today at Cub Scout Den Meeting, the boys and I made cookies. It was a very simple, cake mix cookie recipe. The boys were so well behaved. They were smiling and thoughtful and didn't complain even once about having to wash their hands (for the third time). And then...they shared the cookies with a group of girls nearby.

What happened to my 8 and 9 yr-old scouts? They turned all civilized on me!

Here is the recipe in case you are curious if your kids will turn civilized too:

EASY MAGIC COOKIES

1 box cake mix (any type)
4 T melted butter
1 beaten egg
1 t vanilla extract
1/2-3/4 cup chocolate chips

Combine ingredients in a large bowl. Mix until well blended. Add chocolate chips. Scoop 1 T dough into a ball. (It helps to roll dough into pretty ball..makes for prettier cookies). Place balls on an ungreased baking sheet, spaced evenly apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-9 minutes.

Maybe they are called magic cookies because the kids are hypnotized by them or something.

Hot Thoughts

I've been busy...

That is a great reason to not be posting right?

Truth is...I've been procrastinating.

See..it got hot this week and I hate, hate, hate electric bills. This old uninsulated house is horrible when it comes to running the air conditioner and so I put it off until there is no other choice. This means....this week with the afternoons in the 90's...the fans and open windows just haven't been cutting it. Constantly feeling too warm (it heated up real quick...seemed to skip the 80's all together..) really is exhausting.

I think my brain has slowed to a crawl all week. I managed to make it through Cub Scouts...

***Quick Tangent into Cub Scouts***

Hooray for Ace Hardware. I went to the spiffy, brand-new, Super Duper Wal-mart that just opened a quarter mile away and I couldn't find what I needed for den meeting this week. So, I went to Ace Hardware. (We were making wind chimes and I needed the metal to do the chiming..) I bought some really long nails that were perfect and then I saw the key station. You know, where they make duplicate keys for people...Well..I had the thought that keys would sound cool chiming too. I asked the people at the small store if they had any mess up keys that aren't any good and if so if I could have them for the Cub Scouts. They gave me a very heavy bag half full of them! Yay! I see lots of key themed crafts in our future. They were just wonderful and kind.

***Back to planned complaining..***

Now...it is a bad thing that I have felt oddly lethargic all week and I don't just mean because the house looks like a very warm tornado whipped through. Next week, on Monday, we are leaving for a five days in San Diego! Yay! Beach...Sea World...60 degree days! But..I haven't felt like doing laundry..or packing or anything. Getting this family of 7 out the door for a 5 day vacation is not done in one night of packing. No sireebob.

So, today..we turned on the AC. Once I get this house cleaned up...then I can start packing.

My husband will have his laptop on the trip with us..so if I am lucky enough to get some sort of internet service, I will post some of the best moments from the trip. But until then, I'm quite sure my mind will be a flurry of don't forgets.

***One more tangent...***

Did you see the Suns beat the Mavericks last night?

Oh my...it was so FUN! I can't wait for the play offs!
