To Cable or Not To Cable

The Diamondbacks are in the playoffs. The first preseason Suns' game is on Saturday. I am in my own personal sports heaven right now. The only thing that could be better? Is if I had cable or satellite so I could actually watch all the games. Of course, who am I kidding? With my kids, that wouldn't happen anyway.

I have a question for you. For you wonderful blogworld you. Do you have cable or satellite TV? If so, how much extra does it cost you a month? If you have experience with both cable and satellite, what is the advantage of each?

I guess that was more than one question.

My husband and I keep debating whether we should get cable or not. We've had it in the past, but for a long time haven't because of cost. Now, we worry that if we have it, the TV will become an even bigger presence in our home, which we do not want. So, if you have an opinion, please share!

Thanks.

Tom here at work swears by satellite. He says that the picture is way better and you get more channels. He said that he only loses signal once in a great while when there is a bad storm.

We have cable and I have the high speed cable internet as well.

Yes, it's expensive and we're planning to cut back on some of the channels.

But - we don't go out to movies, we seldom eat out, I haven't bought a new dvd in ages, and the t.v. is our (mainly my hub's) sole entertainment budget. The high speed net is mine.

I watched much of your Rockies game yesterday. I'm torn between 3 of the 4 National League teams at the moment.

We have Dish.

I like it better than cable.

We've had it for over a year and have only lost the signal twice, and not for long - like, just for minutes during high winds.

My favorite feature is DVR. LOVE it. I can record Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, which comes on at 6:00 AM, for my grandson to watch later.

(we got ours last year when the detroit tigers were in the world series.)

When I had cable ... the TV was on all of the time. I missed it when it was gone, but now I do other things and don't miss it at all.

It's a tough call.

I decided years ago not to cable.

What's a TV?
