The Book Store
Tonight, I went to Barnes and Noble.
This was a rare treat for me. After going out for dinner, my husband and I decided to walk around the open air mall instead of going to see the movie we'd planned on. We ended up spending an hour and half wandering around and exploring the book store.
I don't go to book stores or even libraries all that often. It isn't because I dislike them. More likely, I avoid them because I tend to get lost in them. Moreso, I tend to get lost in myself in them.
When I go into a bookstore or a library, the volume of written work can be so overwhelming. In each book there is a power, given through the written words and ideas of the author. I can almost see that power..that essence wafting up from the rows and rows of books. It is awe inspiring.
Ok, I know that sounds a bit nutty. I really feel energized and overwhelmed all at the same time. Tonight, I did something I've never done before. I went over to the fiction section, and found alphabetically, where my novel belongs. Talk about positive visualization. So unlike me!
I think about all the writers who worked so hard to put down their thoughts. I sat at a table (eating a yummy cupcake) and just was so grateful for all the work those writers have done. What great examples they are of sticking to their dreams.
We left having bought a music cd, but no books. But more than that cd I gained a renewed desire to write and work on my dream. I think I need to find time in my life for more book stores and libraries. What inexpensive motivation!

Who knows what little event will trigger the next great novel?
If you can see it,feel it, and claim it it is yours....;)
what a great way to spend an evening!
I love bookstores too. Ilive in a very rural area so I do not go to them often but when I do, I am there for hours!
our little library isnt too bad but sometimes the newer books arent the good ones :(
Oh, I love bookstores! I always find too many books and have to just choose one.
That's hard!!!!
Oooo... I like your train of thought! Go get your book on that shelf!
I remember being inspired to continue my model railroad hobby way back when, by visiting a store called Trains 'n' Such. Somehow, being in another space of the same 'theme' renewed my interest. Glad to hear it did the same for you!
And you'll never guess what our major assignment for this term is... I'll keep you guessing, you'll have to read the blog very soon...
