An Amazing Night
Tonight I managed an escape!
Ok, it was a short-lived movie date with my husband, but it really helped pull me from my overstuffed mind for a little bit. Now, I usually wouldn't bother writing about going out on a boring married person date, but something happened that continues to amaze me.
Actually, a couple things happened.
We spent less than $30 for dinner, movie and concessions at the movie. What a rare treat! My husband had one of those discount coupon books he bought awhile back, so we got dinner half off. I waved my old student id out to get the student discount at the movies(the one from just a year ago, not when I started college 14 yrs ago, that would just make them laugh.) And..because we are part of a movie watcher club deal (scan the card and get discounts) we got a coupon for free popcorn and soda. So, less than $30 for a $60-$75 night out. See..isn't that amazing?
The other thing that really amazed me? I absolutely LOVED the movie we saw. I enjoy a good movie now and then, but I have found in my advancing years I am a bit more critical of what ticket I spend that $10 $9 on(remember student id). So, I even had complaints for the recent Harry Potter movie. Often, we just skip the move (much to my husband's chagrin) because there isn't really anything I want to see.
Oh, now you probably want to know what movie I enjoyed what with my distinguished tastes and all. LOL..ok my frugal tastes. We went and saw the movie Stardust.
I hadn't seen much about it but what I had seen looked interesting. It was so fun! I enjoy fantasy movies and this one was filled with magic and idealism and whimsy and even the wicked witches. Even better, it was a good story. I think my daughters especially would love this movie. We certainly plan to purchase it when it comes out on DVD.
I don't want to say too much about the movie, because it was a entertaining ride. I'd hate to ruin it for anyone thinking of seeing it. It is fairly lighthearted, but there is violence (more suggested then seen) so I wouldn't recommend it for small children. Although, there were some small children in the audience. Plus, it is funny! My husband compared it to Princess Bride, but it is less tongue in cheek than that in my opinion.
There ya go. I think that is my first Movie review/recommendation I've ever made here. Quite a difference from my last post. Heh, back to working on the house tomorrow tho, so the grumpy, disillusioned Oshee might just be returning. Anyone want to help paint?

A rare treat, indeed!
Sorry, haven't been around much - discovered a bunch of links missing on my sidebar, yours included. On the rare occasion that I cycled through the blogs, I missed you anyway - so sorry you fell off the radar there for a bit. It's great to see we can still read you!!
I heard that was a really good movie, I am dying to see it. I'll probably have to wait til it's out on DVD though.
