Puppy Love
I've been reading on other blogs that Blogger is forcing people to upgrade. It hasn't happened to me yet..If I disappear tho, that is probably that cause, and I'll be back as soon as I can.
It is past midnight here. I do a lot of posting here late at night. It is really the only time the house is completely quiet. Well, except for the buzzing of the drier and the defrosting of the freezer, but those are normal easy to tune out house sounds.
My mom got a puppy. He is an adorable little Jack Russell Terrier. When I get her permission, I'll post a pic of him. He's quite the looker. My mom is a crazy woman and works 60+ hours a week. So, I get to puppy-sit some days. Today was his first day with us. My kids all had the day off school (teacher inservice) and so we spent the day playing with the puppy.
Today, this puppy made me realize I kinda miss having a baby. Puppy would get tired of playing and would run away from the toddlers and to me. I'd pick him up and he'd nap on my lap. Upon waking he would run back to play with the kids. It was very sweet.
My baby is 19 months-old. He is a big boy. Here's a pic:

That is my baby on the right. His 2 1/2 yr-old brother is on the far left. Yes, they are the same size. My older daughter is missing from the picture because she was on the gymnasium floor with her school band. We were at a performance a couple of weeks ago. My kids loved climbing to the top of the bleachers.
As we are done having kids, I am occassionally reminded that all of my baby's firsts are my lasts. Now, he has already started the talking back (no! no! thank you 2 1/2 yr-old brother for teaching him that one...). He is a delightful kid and I absolutely enjoy him and his sense of humor.
But, since I enjoy the little one cuddling with me too..I think I should get a puppy of my own. LOL.
Another realization I had about the puppy and about maybe just getting a dog of our own...is this:

Yes, that is the 2 1/2 yr-old booting up the computer. He wants to play his favorite games. Watching him use that computer and go to exactly what he wants puts my bragging about being on the internet since 1992 to shame. I was 18...he's 2. Won't surprise me if he ends up a programmer...
Anyway, the observation...
I limit the boy's computer time and he gets very unhappy with me about it sometimes. Today, with the puppy here? Not one complaint. No turning on the computer for him either. My boy needs a puppy to balance out his playtime desires I think.
See, tame the geek element in my son by giving him a dog. (But thanks to dad...that geek element just might win out..he he he).
So, things here have been filled with puppy love and lots of laughter and squeals of delight. All in all I think that made it a pretty good day.

Sounds like you already have a partial puppy. Maybe a shared puppy will be a good trial.
Yes, I agree with AC that it seems the best of both worlds to have a part-time puppy!
We are never without multiple pets, currently 1 dog, 2 cats, 2 rabbits.
So true that the simple things can keep kids happy and busy for hours, the cree princess enjoyed a freezer box for weeks.
Hope
As with kittens to cats, puppies become dogs.
Just so you know!
The kids are so cute.
My friend did all the hard work for me after I was strongarmed into switching to new blogger.
There are some things I like about it but haven't done much except post a couple of things so far.
It posts much faster for one thing and I like the labels.
