Talk Radio

I listen to talk radio. I have times when I have to shut it off, because I can't handle the intense overdoing of certain topics. And I turn it off when I get angry. Some of the stories I am going to share, make me angry. And then I feel helpless, because what can I possibly do to change any of the evil out there? It makes being Mom terrifying sometimes. Here are some snippets of what was being talk about lately:

Did you know that Daniel Radcliffe (aka Harry Potter) is in a play called "Equus" right now? It is showing in London's West End (like New York's Broadway). He is taking on a role where he will be naked for the complete duration of the show.

I am glad he is doing this on stage and not in film. I'd have trouble explaining to my daughter why she cannot go see Harry Potter's new movie.

It could be a lot worse. While I may disagree with Daniel's decision here. It is tough to get overly caught up in it when looking at the rest of the sickness out there.

There is a man attacking little girls in their beds here in Phoenix right now. Here is the story. He may not seem to be targeting girls in my children's ethic or economic background or even in our area of town but it still has me nervous. He sneaks in while parents are home, either in bed or in another room. How brazen. How sick. I doubled checked my kids windows tonight.

Then the story of the Florida police who jailed a woman after she reported a rape. She apparently had an outstanding warrant. They denied her a 'morning-after-pill'. How disrespectful is that? Like the fact that she had made mistakes made the attack on her acceptable. The warrant was four years-old and the woman was a juvenile at the time of the original crime.

How about the messed up nature of Honor Killings? When a woman feels she has to prove her virginity in order to return home, but then Pop decides to shoot her in the head four times anyway because he doubted her. The worst part is that he is likely to get a very light sentence through the courts in Jordan.

Also, did you hear about the 29 year-old man who got into several different schools in a city north of Phoenix, posing as a 12 year-old kid? What is this world coming to? The man was only caught after the kids at the school told their teachers and principal that the kid looked really old. Well duh!?!

This is an odd and scary world.

On a lighter side..at least there are Hermaphrodite Deer in the world to keep things interesting for hunters LOL.

I think tomorrow, I will just listen to music. Happy music. Music and can sing to at the top of my lungs all day long. Any recommendations of happy music?

It must mean I am getting old when the Daniel Radcliffe thing bugs me a little.

The stories you mention are exactly the reason I cannot watch the news anymore. Waaay too much depressing stuff.

Hope you found some happy music -- I've been listening to angsty stuff myself lately, so I don't have any suggestions.

Did you see Extras where Daniel Radcliffe played himself and was trying to get laid? It was so funny.

The sexual assault thing here is totally creepy. I don't understand people. Plus, HOW could so many schools not notice that this guy is 29 and not 12? I mean, really!
