Happy Blogiversary To Me!

I missed it! How could I? My blogiversary! Well sort of blogiversary anyway.

Me and blogging...we have an odd history.

I actually started blogging (but not seriously) way back in 2003 (so technicaly my blogiversary is Sept 5th). I didn't even really know what a blog was. Or more importantly, what the big deal was. See, blogging was never my idea. Eventually I came around...but only after I started reading other people's blogs and then I understood.

My husband for a long time told me I needed to start a blog. But I didn't really care. He thought it was such a good idea that he set up a blog for me! Wow..how nice. But still I didn't really care. I wrote a few posts and then forgot about it. Then I'd remember when he would ask if I was using it and post a couple more times. He then told some of his family about it so I posted a couple more times. But I didn't really get the whole blogging thing and I wasn't on any searches or lists or anything out there.

Then, on January 25, 2006, I started a writing class and decided it might be fun to actually put some of the stuff online. Maybe someone else would read it and like it too. This meant that I finally had to actually learn the in's and out's of this blogging system. I figured out I could find other blogger blogs and from other people's blogrolls I could find other interesting bloggers. So, I started reading. I was hooked. So, I consider yesterday (because it is past midnight now) my blogiversary, because that is when I truly joined this amazing community.

I've had times where I've needed to take a break from posting. I've had my times of being superproductive and posting multiple times a day. In the end, I know have a small group of readers who do continue to visit me, even when I've been away for awhile. I appreciate each of you, whether you comment or not. Since I quit working 18 mo ago to become a SAHM, blogging has filled a very specific need for me. And knowing someone is actually reading my stream of consciousness is comforting. Thank you.

Blogging about Blogging

This was a great post for me and those of you using bloglines are going to get it again, because I had to fix some formating to help it work in IE. I messed with the font so much back when I wrote it, it looked funny. I forgot until I pulled it up to get the URL to link here.

This really was also, a great post for me because it was the first time I was linked by another blogger. Thank you Bobita! That is when I started to care about stat counting. Altho, it wasn't until the end of April that I added sitemeter.

I do still have my early postings (pre being truly blogging committed) in my archives. So, if you want a chuckle feel free to take a look back. It was me before giving birth to two of my children. What an amazing several years it has been.

I look forward to the future years. I learn a lot about myself as I discover what parts of me I want to share.

I ought to update my blogroll to those I currently read. That has always been my philosophy of blogrolling. I put people there I enjoy reading, whether or not they read me. That way, if you like me, you might like them too. Bloglines erased my need to use it, but I think I should keep it true to what I am enjoying. Yet another moment where blogging has helping me. It helps me remember that I do know a bit of HTML and I should use it. Heh
