Halloween (Last Saturday)

I tried to post this yesterday but blogger wasn't letting me upload pictures. How fun is me telling you about the kids in costumes when I can't show them to you? So, now that things appear to be working again...

Last Saturday we all went to a church Halloween party. The kids all dress up and then go trick or treating in the parking lot. The go from car to car where people decorate and dress up to hand out the candy to the kids. We call it a Trunk Or Treat.

I thought I would share some pictures of my kids all dressed up.

This is my son (the knight in shining armor) battling his cousin (the dragon).
My sis-in-law is amazing. She made that dragon costume...I bought my son's shining armor etc at a dollar store. LOL.

This is the fairy princess that came to save the day. But you can see she found the candy mind numbing. (Note the chocolate on her dazed face..)

This is the queen that sent the knight off to fight the dragon. My kids every year come up with a story to all of their costumes. They have to make them all fit together. I guess it is my fault. I dressed them as Wendy, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell one year and the novelty of a story behind the costumes stuck.

This little dinosaur enjoyed sitting on Grandma's lap and eating way too many lollipops. Here are a couple more of him (just to melt your heart).

Brandon dinosaur wasn't so happy in this one, but he is still so cute! Older brother Robert has a recent infatuation with firetrucks and so the firefighter costume was a perfect fit (even if it was several sizes too big).

So, if Brandon Dino above didn't melt your heart I leave you with Robert's sweet grin.

We had a great time and came home with more candy than we handed out. Which is great because I am all into the recycling candy thing. Tonight I plan to hand out the candy the kids collected last Saturday. No point to buying more. (Plus, less candy in the house, less temptation for me!)

I hope you all have a very Happy Halloween.

What a neat idea to have the kids costumes follow a theme! I'm impressed that they could all agree on something!

As for your dollar store costume, the kids don't usually care where the costumes come from! Funny how we judge ourselves by these "standards" and compare ourselves to others. I'm sure he had just as much fun as he would have in a costume that you poured hours and hours into!

Those kids are too cute in those costumes. I think the idea of an overarching theme is great.
